If you saw my post yesterday on seeing a friend and he douchebag [ex] boyfriend on eBaumsWorld.com and wondered why the hell I was on eBaumsWorld then you probably are another webmaster or producer of original content that was stolen by eBaum and still harbor resentment.
Most of you don’t know or care about that little feud between eBaum and the internet, but I have to say that I’ve only had respectful encounters with Eric Bauman. He instant messaged me several times in 2004 asking to use my content and another eBaum employee (no reason to believe it was Ebaum under a pseudonym) approached me in 05 with similar requests and offers and when an agreement wasn’t reached (ie: giving me credit for the content instead of buying the distribution rights from me), it was dropped completely. EbaumsWorld.com only started illegally distributing my Violence against Women video in 2008 after Eric Bauman had sold the site and was no longer in charge.
The reason I was at the site yesterday though was that I was strolling through the ruins and ghost towns of old richardland pages and followed one from 4 or 5 years ago to an eBaumsWorld topsite list to see that I had apparently still been sending hits to even though the link was hidden in old pages on the site – which sucks for me since the displayed stats showed I was sending them 2 thousand hits a week and they only sent back slightly less than 200.
This is obnoxious cuz I had the same problem with Collegehumor before finally just unlinking them. Both sites are bigger than mine – evidently because of suckers like me who feed them for little or no return.
Richardland.com always makes sure that incoming referral links are rewarded with at least 3 times the traffic they sent in.
