Shaming someone’s Selfies?… Try not to be so cliche, Loves. Hating on people taking photographs of themselves by dismissing it as vanity with no further evidence of the charge than the fact that…er…a person photographed themselves, is a shallow and small minded tactic transparently born from your own insecurities.
We get it. You have self doubt and the display of others lack of self-doubt makes you uncomfortable. You then seek to desire to publicly shame this as a way of making yourself feel better.
It doesn’t work.
Yes, some people are self absorbed, vain, losers. Calling them such for the act of taking a photograph of themselves and making it accessible to their friends or the public is such a low-rent move that you outta feel embarrassed instead of empowered.
Also, be sure to not reside in a glass house when throwing those vanity-stones, dear, as you will look twice as dumb if your own social networking account is full of – surprise! – pictures of yourself that you took yourself and shared with your friends and the public.
This douchey hypocrisy is unnecessary and unproductive. People take photos and sometimes they are the capturing of their own image. Know how you do that? Like…all the time? Try to not be so small-minded and apply the same standards to others as you do to yourself and you’ll be A-okay.
Just because you are uncomfortable with someone looking good and sharing a representation of it, doesn’t mean you should voice that like you’re the humble-police. Looking good is not a moral crime you need to be blowing the whistle on. Chill out and calm your tits.
And if you’re going to say that it’s not your rank insecurity thats causing you to be such a hater on that hot girl or guys Facebook – or even more ridiculous: Instagram – a social network entirely about pictures of oneself (which I have yet to join, myself, as of the time of this writing), then go ahead and tell this chemo-kid how “vain” he is… because he photographed himself.
Go ahead:
Is he a douche? Why not, bruh? He’s taking a picture of himself and his bald ass head. So vain, right? Or are selfies okay if you’re dying? Is it cool with you, Your Highness, if I go ahead and save some digital images of myself before I’m dead? I don’t want to be ridiculous and mock-worthy so maybe I shouldn’t, right?
Repent, you boorish naives. You’re not saving the world by wagging your finger at the act of oneself saving their own image.
