My latest formula is an evening wine replacement since I don’t drink and when I do have a thimble full on the rarest of occasions, all it does is make me tired but unable to sleep (stupid combo). My fruity wine substitute, Potent Purple is a 100% juice mix that messes me up just as much but actually aids sleep instead of that weird tired-but-wired effect wine has on me. It’s a moderately sweet purple-maroon (that creates pink foam) all natural health drink and calming agent. I’ve tested it on several others and so far no one else gets sleepy from 1 to 3 glasses, so the effect of the natural relaxing chemicals in the juices should only affect your mood unless you’re a lightweight like me, in which it will aid sleep and kindov mess you up a little. Maximize this effect by taking a dose of KavaKava (over-the-counter herb that is an all natural muscle relaxer) with your glass (can be taken in capsules or you can brew some KavaKava tea and combine it right into the juice).
I know, I know, “why would anyone want to substitute WINE??” but if you’re one of the 1% that’s not a fan of sour grape juice like me or even if you love it – this stuff can eff you up (to a degree), has chemistry affecting benefits for non-lightweight test subjects & is a million times more healthy. Plus, you can always use it as a mixer with something hard or one third red wine for an interesting berry-mimosa that has been a huge hit with the wine lovers in my circle.
The measurements along with some proprietary ingredients are being experimented with, but here’s what its base factors are, along with their benefits, if you’d like to mix up something close to it at home:
Purple Grape Juice: Resveratrol (the compound in grape skins that is at the center of those studies claiming that red wine may fight cancer).
Pomegranate Juice: antioxidants, ellagic acid (which may block reproduction of cancer cells) & temporarily surges testosterone which increases sexual desire in both genders while lowering blood pressure
Cranberry Juice: proanthocyanidins minerals (cleanse urinary tract). Also may inhibit mouth bacteria.
Tart Cherry Juice: anti-inflammatory & pain relief (due to naturally occurring compounds that act similar to Aspirin), muscle recovery & melatonin (anti-oxidant we produce in darkness that makes us sleepy).
Grapefruit Juice*: bioflavonoids (reduce water retention), lycopene (an antioxidant), beta-carotene & pectin (reduces arterial deposits – so it’s a good balance to your greasy/fried dinner) while adding a tartness to it. Also increases flow of gastric juices, aiding digestion as well as containing a fat burning enzyme that absorbs and reduces fat and starch.
Orange Juice: potassium, folate. Sweetens it up a little.
All the above juices are also high in Vitamin C and various cancer fighting agents.
