Here’s A minima-List of Attitudinal Life Improvers

I noticed that your whole life-thingy you’re doing there could be improved and I wanted to make it better. I didn’t really notice, but I still want to help. but not in the “sure, I’ll drive you to the airport” or “yea I can help you move into your new apartment this weekend” kind of help – I mostly just want you to make your own life better without me having to do anything beyond just giving a few leads how. THAT, I can do. And I already have this list done because I made it for myself and I’m just sharing it with you here for two reasons: 1- Because of the whole “I want your life to be better” thing (were you not paying attention just a second ago?? geez), and 2- because I’m serious that this was a thing I wrote in my private life – and I’m not ashamed of it – it’s a good list – *BUT*… it kindov reads like a pretentious haiku if you view it through that sort of lens, and I’m always afraid I’m going to get hit by a texting Lyft driver and lose my memory (or life – or whatever) and be remembered by the lamest looking thing on my phone at the time, and right now (since obviously no one is going to judge any of these dope bathroom selfies poorly) – it’s this list. That actually exists. On my real life phone that I made for my real-life-self. Kindov. What makes it look douchier is that this isn’t even a list for me – it’s something I compiled for another person. I know all of this unnecessary explanation takes away from what could otherwise probably pass as not much of a big deal, but over explaining the things I over-share that don’t inherently have the energy around them that I over-explain about is kindov the thing on this blog.

Whatever. Delete all that. Restart:

Ahem. Here is a non-joke, non-ironic or sarcastic actual proclamation of life improvers you don’t need to wait till New Years to start being-better-about right now. I call it:

Sun Tan Lotion

Do better.

Abolish the poison of hateful rage you harbor towards annoyances.

Plan. Strategize. Worry about execution later. Have a plan now.

Fix your attitude.

Add value to anything you’re a part of.

Involve others in meaningful goal oriented ways.

Manage mental and physical self care better.

Take care of your pets.

Keep track of time that’s passing and how much is left to goal posts.

Set goal posts.

Quit wasting time.

Stop prioritizing bullshit that pacifies suffering in the present but won’t make you happy.

Invest in your future by focusing on the present and making it count.

Drink more water.

Do whatever you need to to understand what the person you’re talking to’s point of view is instead of steamroll the way you see things through.

Be curious but use critical thinking.

Calm down.

Do more than is expected of you.

Make up for the things that negatively affect other people or admit that those people aren’t important enough to you.

Take deep full breathes.

Remind yourself to straighten your posture.

Practice gratitude.

Don’t be so dramatic.

Or spiteful.

Or defensive.

Stretch.

Try harder.

Do better.
