America should make an offer to Haiti to buy it, annex it as a territory (like Puerto Rico) and turn it into a part resort/real estate destination, part industry island (like an American Taiwan). We’re already doing that with our Samoan territories – lets do it closer by and save on shipping. Flip this shithole country right off our shores into an industrial blooming rose that gives the people there purpose and a livelihood in record numbers. spreading the magic of capitalism is the best charity we would ever give.
Plus, we could put a new Guantanamo on it, or just make a G2 that connects with neighboring Cuba’s G1.
How doable this is, is even illustrated by the differences of the rest of the island that Haiti sits on: the Dominican Republic. They’re doing just fine. so like… why don’t we buy Haiti and make it more like the country across it’s border?
