Someone whose behavior I was forced to give a negative report on via the phone just sarcastically said what amounted to “what am I supposed to do? Just change my behavior to make someone else happy?” – completely seriously. Not a hint of irony to his tone. Dude legit straight up mocked the very idea of altering ones actions in any way for the purpose of benefiting those around him.
